| Hey guys, happy new year! I hope you have a wonderful one. I've decided (since I've been away for awhile anyway) to just take an indefinite break from Xanga. I've found Tumblr to be more alive than Xanga and far more inspirational. I don't want to lose contact with you, however, so please do follow me at http://ailesdange.tumblr.com/. I have set up a formspring there if you would like to comment or talk or just say anything. I will keep this site open if you want to message me or look at the old posts. Thank you all for your support and kindness. You mean a lot to me -Emily | | |
| Hi all. I haven't left, nor do I plan on leaving. I'm just short on time. Thank you all for being so sweet, and still liking the site, even though I haven't been posting. I love you all :) I will post as soon as I can. In the meantime, you can follow my Tumblr: http://www.ailesdange.tumblr.com | | |
| Hey guys! I just want to apologize for not updating for so long! I've been super busy, then lost internet, then got super busy again...yadda yadda yadda. But the fact that you're all still visiting, commenting, and subscribing means so much to me. Thank you so, so much :) I've decided to give you a special treat tonight and make a Halloween themed post. I hope you've all been well; let me know how things have been for you. Enjoy!
'Tis the night - the night Of the grave's delight, And the warlocks are at their play; Ye think that without The wild winds shout, But no, it is they - it is they.
A gypsy fire is on the hearth, Sign of the carnival of mirth; Through the dun fields and from the glade Flash merry folk in masquerade, For this is Hallowe'en!

Come with me All Hallow's night/ We'll frighten everyone in sight/ Such pranks for once, are justified/ And fun and frolic amplified.
Just like a ghost, you've been a-hauntin' my dreams, So I'll propose on Halloween. Love is kinda crazy with a spooky little girl like you.

Katrina Van Tassel: I have shed my tears for Brom... and yet my heart is not broken. Do you think me wicked? Ichabod Crane: No... but perhaps there is a little bit of witch in you, Katrina. Katrina Van Tassel: Why do you say that? Ichabod Crane: Because you have bewitched me. -Sleepy Hollow

"A house is never still in darkness to those who listen intently; there is a whispering in distant chambers, an unearthly hand presses the snib of the window, the latch rises. Ghosts were created when the first man awoke in the night." -J.M. Barrie
"One need not be a chamber to be haunted; One need not be a house; The brain has corridors surpassing Material place." - Emily Dickinson
"There is something haunting in the light of the moon; it has all the dispassionateness of a disembodied soul, and something of its inconceivable mystery." -Joseph Conrad
"There are three things I have learned never to discuss with people: religion, politics and the Great Pumpkin." -Linus Van Pelt, It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
What are you being/doing for Halloween?

"What do you like to do when you're down?" "Read. A lot. To the point that I'm so tired from staying up all night reading that I can't think of why I was down to begin with." -My dear friend, Aubree :) "I am one of the searchers. There are, I believe, millions of us. We are not unhappy, but neither are we really content. We continue to explore life, hoping to uncover its ultimate secret. We continue to explore ourselves, hoping to understand. We like to walk along the beach, we are drawn by the ocean, taken by its power, its unceasing motion, its mystery and unspeakable beauty. We like forests and mountains,, deserts and hidden rivers, and the lonely cities as well. Our sadness is as much a part of our lives as is our laughter. To share our sadness with one we love is perhaps as great a joy as we can know - unless it be to share our laughter." -James Kavanaugh We used the pronoun 'we' more and more often. It's a strange word. Tomorrow I'm going to do this and that, we say. Or you ask what the other person, what 'you' are going to do. This isn't hard to understand. But suddenly the word 'we' emerges and with the greatest spontaneity. 'Shall we take a boat out to the islands and go swimming?' 'Or shall we just stay at home and read?' 'Did we enjoy that play?' And the one day, 'we're happy'.
"This life is what you make it. No matter what, you’re going to mess up sometimes, it’s a universal truth. But the good part is you get to decide how you’re going to mess it up. Girls will be your friends – they’ll act like it anyway. But just remember, some come, some go. The ones that stay with you through everything – they’re your true best friends. Don’t let go of them. Also remember, sisters make the best friends in the world. As for lovers, well, they’ll come and go too. And babe, I hate to say it, most of them – actually pretty much all of them are going to break your heart, but you can’t give up because if you give up, you’ll never find your soul mate. You’ll never find that half who makes you whole and that goes for everything. Just because you fail once, doesn’t mean you’re gunna fail at everything. Keep trying, hold on, and always, always, always believe in yourself, because if you don’t, then who will, sweetie? So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly, keep smiling, because life’s a beautiful thing and there’s so much to smile about." -Marilyn Monroe "But who can say what’s best? That’s why you need to grab whatever chance you have of happiness where you find it, and not worry about other people too much." -Haruki Murakami
He stared up at the stars: and it seemed to him then that they were dancers, stately and graceful, performing a dance almost infinite in its complexity. He imagined he could see the very faces of the stars; pale, they were, and smiling gently, as if they had spent so much time above the world, watching the scrambling and the joy and the pain of the people below them, that they could not help being amused every time another little human believed itself the center of its world, as each of us does. “Let’s plunge ourselves into the roar of time, the whirl of accident; may pain and pleasure, success and failure, shift as they will - it’s only action that can make a man.” -Goethe, Faust "The American Standard translation orders men to triumph over sin, and you can call sin ignorance...The King James translation makes a promise in ‘Thou shalt,’ meaning that men will surely triumph over sin. But the Hebrew word, the word timshel—‘Thou mayest’— that gives a choice. It might be the most important word in the world. That says the way is open. That throws it right back on a man. For if ‘Thou mayest’—it is also true that ‘Thou mayest not." -John Steinbeck "I can choose to sit in perpetual sadness, immobilized by the gravity of my loss, or I can choose to rise from the pain and treasure the most precious gift I have - life itself." -Walter AndersonIf you'd like, please share some good news you've recently received. | | |
| How are you all? Xanga's been so quiet lately, I hope you're all planning on sticking around. And Milo, full of thoughts and questions, curled up in the pages of tomorrow's music, and eagerly awaited the dawn.
Sometimes you fall, spinning through space, grasping for the things that keep you here. Sometimes you catch them. Sometimes you don't. Sometimes they catch you.
But the girl gradually sought him out. If he brought up his sketch-book, it was she who pondered longest over the last picture Then she would look up at him. Suddenly, her dark eyes alight like water that shakes with a steam of gold in the dark, she would ask: “Why do I like this so?" "Still, there are times I am bewildered by each mile I have traveled, each meal I have eaten, each person I have known, each room in which I have slept. As ordinary as it all appears, there are times when it is beyond my imagination." -Jhumpa Lahiri "All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, deep roots are not reached by frost." -J.R.R Tolkien You can never have too much sky . You can fall asleep and wake up drunk on sky, and sky can keep you safe when you are sad. Here there is too much sadness and not enough sky. Butterflies too are few and so are flowers and most things that are beautiful. Still, we take what we can get and make the best of it. Do you want me to tell you something really subversive? Love is everything it's cracked up to be. That's why people are so cynical about it. . . . It really is worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for. And the trouble is, if you don't risk anything, you risk even more.
I've gotta say something, 'cause I don't think I've made it clear. I'm in love with you. Powerfully, painfully in love. The things you do, the way you think, the way you move. I get excited every time I'm about to see you. You make me feel like I've never felt before in my life. Like a man. I just thought you might wanna know.
